Bianca Mickan, PhD, is a passionate licensed professional counselor (LPC) who utilizes cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to treat emotional and behavioral problems in children, adolescents, and adults. She specializes in treating anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief, life transitions, child behavior problems, and couple’s relationship problems, including sex/marriage therapy.
She received her doctorate from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas where she also enjoyed being a professor of graduate school for PhD and Master’s level courses. While studying for her PhD, she spent an abundant time studying internationally to learn about culture, faiths, family relations, and human resilience.
Dr. Mickan is enthusiastic about helping individuals thrive and overcome life challenges. She is an ally of the LGBTQ community. She is confident working with clients of all faiths, cultures and backgrounds. Her training and experience have been in private practice, heading behavioral health hospitals, Baylor and Methodist Emergency Hospitals, the Dallas Police Department, and as a professor of university counseling programs for Masters and Doctorate level students. She is a published co-author of the textbook Marriage and Family Therapy: A Practice Oriented Approach (2018).
Dr. Mickan is a proud wife of a United States Marine Veteran and mother to two boys, two dogs and one snake. She believes that compassion and connection are essential to therapy, and she is humbled by the fact that she is able to do what she loves for a living.
